Tekiah Prison

“The Spirit of Adonai ELOHIM is upon me, because ADONAI has anointed me to announce good news to the poor. He has sent me to heal the brokenhearted; to proclaim freedom to the captives, to let out into light those bound in the dark; to proclaim the year of the favor of ADONAI and the day of vengeance of our G-d; to comfort all who mourn, yes, provide for those in Tziyon who mourn, giving them garlands instead of ashes, the oil of gladness instead of mourning, a cloak of praise instead of a heavy spirit, so that they will be called oaks of righteousness planted by ADONAI, in which he takes pride.”  – Isaiah 61:1-3 CJB

About Us:

Tekiah Prison Ministry was established in 2003 out of the desire to establish community service to those in bondage. Tekiah Prison Ministry has continued with anointed strength connecting over 2000 people to their Creator and moving forward. We have experienced great growth in the services rendered, such as the “Sounding the Shofar” newsletters, the Tekiah Praise and Worship Team, our “Letters of Encouragement” for inmates out of our region and Thursday Night One-on-One Counseling in the jail.

This year, Tekiah Ministries is continuing to serve the City of Roswell with dedication and commitment. Tekiah’s volunteers consider it an honor and privilege to be chosen of Abba to do this work. As they enter the jail week after week, they are well known for the blowing of the shofar, and the fruits of their labor are evident. They have witnessed change in every manner – unquestionable repentance, the infilling of the Ruach HaKodesh, healings and the impartation of the call to share the truth about Yeshua HaMashiach. Our continued goal is to be present…….taking back good from evil.

Why We Blow the Shofar

The shofar is an instrument of warfare and it beckons restoration. Israel used the shofar or the silver trumpets to call assembly, to signal sacrifice or to panic the enemy in battle. The shofar would also sound in ancient Israel at the time of the Jubilee. You can read about it in Torah in the Book of Leviticus, Chapter 25. It was time for freedom for G-d’s people. Sons and daughters came home, debts were forgiven, and life was renewed. When the shofar was blown to begin the Jubilee, the Scripture calls it the joyful sound.

There are four different types of Shofar sounds

Tekiah – one blow that lasts 2-3 seconds

Shevarim – a “broken” tekiah, made by sounding three quick blasts

Teruah – nine very quick pulses

Tekiah Gedolah – “Big Tekiah,” one blast for as long as possible, but lasting at least 9 seconds

Tekiah Ministries blows the tekiah blast to awake “sleepers from their sleep” calling men and women to repentance, to make a new start within themselves. The shofar, with its powerful and profound calls, removes the obstacles and helps people reach this new start. As love (Yeshua) begins to heal wounds and make darkness flee, there begins a need to think in a new way. People are changed from thinking the way the world has taught and drawn away from wanting to be angry, bitter, vengeful, or rejected any longer. People are drawn to the Word of G-d, the Bible. As people consume its contents for the first time, hungry to know more, they begin to have the power to live like never before; the abundant life which Yeshua offers.

“‘I was naked and you clothed Me; I was sick and you visited Me; I was in prison and you came to Me’…‘Or when did we see You sick or in prison and come to You?’ And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these my brethren, you did it to Me.’” Matthew 25:36, 39-40
